Abbey National Mis Sold PPI

Although Abbey National branches are no longer a feature on UK high streets, many customers still have loans, credit cards and bank accounts opened prior to the Santander takeover. In cases such as these, customers are often left confused about how to go about making a complaint, particularly when their complaint concerns the sale of a product previously made through Abbey National.

Mis sold PPI has become a significant issue in the last five years after investigations by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) revealed the scale of the problem. For those who believe they have Abbey National mis sold PPI; however, there is some confusion about who will investigate their complaint and even if they are still entitled to make one. The good news is, complaints can still be made regarding Abbey National PPI sales and these will be reviewed by Santander with compensation paid as necessary.

If you are not sure if you have Abbey National mis sold PPI you should consider the following questions.

  • Were you put under undue pressure to take out PPI?
  • Were you told the cover was compulsory?
  • Were you told taking out a PPI policy would improve your chances of being approved for the loan?
  • Were you in full time education at the time you purchased the policy, retired or unemployed?
  • Were you suffering from a serious pre-existing medical condition?
  • Were you aged sixty-five or over?
  • Were you a serving member of the armed forces or employed within the civil service?
  • Were you in secure employment with full sick pay entitlement?
  • Was your policy sold without a clear explanation of the terms, conditions and exemptions?
  • Was your policy sold without the full costs being made clear?
  • Did you have existing cover in place elsewhere?
  • Was the policy added without your consent?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions it is likely your payment protection policy may have been mis-sold and you may be entitled to make a claim. We have already assisted more than 60,000 customers reclaiming PPI as well as unfair bank charges. To find out more call 0207 471 2000.
