Capital One PPI Complaints
You have probably heard about the issues concerning mis sold payment protection. Following two high profile investigations and a high court review the issue has received substantial media coverage. For many people; however, there is still some confusion over what it means to be mis-sold a policy.
Were you given inaccurate, incomplete or incorrect information?
Before you took out your payment protection policy you should have been given full and complete information regarding the cover including costs and exclusions. If you did not receive this information your policy may be considered mis-sold and you may be entitled to a refund.
In 2007 the Financial Services Authority fined Capital One for failures connected with telephone sales of PPI between January 2005 and April 2006. One of the issues highlighted was a failure to provide customers with adequate information regarding the cover. As a consequence, many people made Capital One PPI complaints.
It is also important that the information received was accurate. If you were told by your lender, for example, that you had to have the cover or that it would improve your chances of being given credit you were given the wrong information
Were you sold a policy that was unsuitable for your needs?
Not everybody needs or can be covered by payment protection insurance. If you were unemployed or in full time education, for example, a cover designed to protect from loss of employment would simply not be suitable. Unfortunately, many people who were not suitable for the cover were still offered and sold it. In the worst cases the cover was sold to customers who were ineligible to have it. For example, most policies do not offer cover people over the age of sixty-five, but some people in this age category were still sold it. If this happened to you, you may be entitled to PPI refunds.
