Halifax mis sold PPI

If you have a loan taken out in the last ten years then you were probably offered some form of loan insurance. Loan insurance is designed to protect a borrower from financial hardship in the event of involuntary unemployment by stepping in to cover repayments. For many years the sale of loan insurance provided a huge additional revenue stream for lenders generating £5.5 billion a year. The cover has become controversial; however, in recent years, since it emerged it had been widely mis-sold.

If you think you may have a Halifax mis sold PPI policy then we can help. We are an independent financial claims company who specialise in helping customers to claim back mis-sold PPI. We work on a no win no fee* basis and can often resolve claims in just eight weeks. We also assist customers wishing to claim back unfair bank charges.

A 2006 Office of Fair Trading (OFT) investigation into charges applied for late payment and over the limit fee on credit cards found that some lenders were applying fees that were unfair. In some cases it was discovered charges of as much as £35 were applied even if the customer only exceeded their agreed limit by a small amount or was only a day late with their payment. Critics accused lenders of profiting from the most financially vulnerable sending many further into financial difficulty. Lenders claimed the charges were necessary to cover costs, but the OFT rejected this notion and announced that charges should be capped at £12 in order to remain fair. As a consequence of the OFT findings most lenders have lowered their fees, but customers who paid high charges over many years still feel aggrieved. The good news is, now customers can make a claim to recover these charges.
