How Do I Know If I Have Been Missold PPI

So many people in the UK have been sold payment protection insurance without ever being aware of it. Although they may have known they were paying into a loan insurance plan, they may not have realised that they had been mis sold cover by the actions of their lender, whether they were intentional or not. If you have to ask "How do I know if I have been missold PPI?" then there are a few questions you could ask that may be of some help.

Questions to Ask If Concerned You Have Been Missold PPI

Although there are a lot of cases where the lender simply added payment protection insurance to the loan unbeknownst to the borrower, there are also times when the borrower was apprised of the cover but it was missold or misrepresented. If you want answers to "How do I know if I have been missold PPI?" consider the following:

  • Did the lender tell you PPI was being added alongside the loan?
  • Did you have any pre-existing medical issues/conditions?
  • Did the lender tell you that PPI was mandatory?
  • Were you over the age of 65?
  • Did you have a temporary or part-time job?
  • Did you have similar cover elsewhere?
  • Did the lender disclose all facts in regards to price, conditions and exclusions?
  • Did the lender tell you this cover might not extend the full term of the loan?
  • Did you have sick pay benefits at your job?

If your answer to any of those questions was affirmative then you most likely were mis sold PPI and would be entitled to a PPI refund.
