Mis Selling of Loan Protection Insurance

At one point the mis selling of loan protection insurance was big news and after a time it seems as though consumers got complacent. That was a grave mistake because while they were 'sleeping' the lion roared and now there are more cases of mis selling loan insurance than at first was anticipated. It is being forecast that in the near future there will be record numbers of UK consumers looking to claim back PPI. In fact, lenders are preparing for an onslaught of claims in the days and weeks ahead which has prompted banks to hire on an additional 6,000 workers to help process PPI claims.

More Active PPI Policies than Previously Anticipated

At the moment it is estimated that more than 20 million PPI policies are still active in the UK and of those 20 million a good portion of them may be soon claiming back bank charges due to the mis selling of loan protection insurance. However, keep in mind that this is just an estimate based on figures reported by major lenders and insurance providers throughout the UK. There is every possibility that more than 20 million PPI policies are still in existence, many of which resulted from the mis selling of loan protection insurance. If this is the case then the UK economy may be even further in financial jeopardy than previously held.

How to Discover If You Have Been Mis Sold PPI

If you feel that your lender has been guilty of the mis selling of loan insurance and you are wondering if you have such a policy on any of your loans, take out the original documents and look for any evidence of insurance premiums or interest rates. PPI would not be itemized on monthly statements because the premium is a onetime charge at the time of closing on the loan. That's where you would need to look and where you would find PPI cover listed if it is there.

To file a claim against your lender for having mis sold PPI, you can either contact them directly or contract the services of a PPI claims company like Belmont Thornton/The PPI Claim Company to handle the claim back for you. .
