The Debt Advice Foundation has responded to a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers which suggests that on average British households will spend £5,000 paying off debts over the coming year.David Rodgers, managing director of the charity said: "The latest figures show that around 300 people a day are not coping with current repayment levels and are turning to insolvency solutions as a result.""The reduction in credit card spending by consumers in the last year has shown that habits are already changing. The habit of debt denial is a habit we would like to see change within the next year."According to statistics from the Insolvency Service, there were 33,073 individual insolvencies in England and Wales in the second quarter of 2009.
