Barclays 'made me spend thousands on useless PPI'
A 56-year old man was charged over £10,000 for payment protection insurance (PPI) that he could never be eligible to use, the Daily Mail reports.
Roy Barker, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2004, combined his debts into a single loan of £91,000 from First Plus (a subsidiary of Barclays).
Of this amount, PPI cost him £22,286, although the loan provider advised him strongly to take it out.
He told the news provider: "I was advised that taking PPI cover would be a good idea, nothing was said about cost.'
Recently Thisismoney.co.uk revealed that people who have taken out PPI policies which were only mis-sold in part could face difficulty in pursuing a PPI claim.
