Loan Insurance: Bank of Scotland slammed by small businesses

The Bank of Scotland's services for small enterprises have been criticised for changes to the way the firm handles its business customers, the BBC reports today (January 14th).

Having moved its business relationship managers out of branch offices in Scotland, clients now have to phone a call centre.

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has said that its members feel "abandoned" by the changes, although the bank insists that it still sends its employees to see business customers face to face.

Andy Willox, policy convenor for the FSB, told the news provider: "I find it astonishing that the Bank of Scotland says this is what their small business customers want.

"Our members say the exact opposite. And despite the bank's protestations to the contrary, our members are receiving a drop in service level, without any drop in their bank charges"

Bank of Scotland is part of the Lloyds Banking Group, which ran a re-financing scheme at the end of last year.
