Goldman Sachs is the latest bank to announce it will slash the amount of bonuses paid out to staff. The American banking giant revealed today that employees at its London division would not be receiving pay-outs as large as in previous years.Goldman Sachs' decision follows a public outcry over the amount of money bankers are regularly paid in bonuses despite the economic crash, which prompted the chancellor Alistair Darling to announce a 50 per cent supertax on bonuses over £25,000.Bankers at Goldman Sachs are not the only ones to be feeling the affects of the public wrath. Earlier this week investment bank Credit Suisse revealed it would be cutting the bonuses of its highest London earners by 30 per cent. While the news is seen as another win from some areas of public opinion, others in the financial industry believe the supertax will push Britain's highest earning bankers abroad. The news comes just days after Mayor of London Boris Johnson wrote a personal letter to the chancellor urging him to cut-back bankers' bonuses.
