Britain's largest mortgage lender Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) has announced it is to close all 58 of its consumer loan centres, axing almost 600 jobs nationwide.The latest job losses come after a string of redundancies at Lloyds TSB following its doomed acquisition of financially stricken bank HBOS.Redundancies have already fuelled anger with the public and trade unions who are annoyed that the 43 per cent taxpayer-owned bank is drastically decreasing its workforce. A senior official for the UK's biggest trade union Unite said they are urging the banking group not to plough ahead with the redundancies.Rob MacGregor said: "Unite is warning the LBG not to repeat their approach in 2009, where staff faced death by a thousand cuts as weekly announcements of job losses were made."Since January 2009 LBG has dropped over 15,000 employees.
