High street banks dominated the list of financial institutions receiving the most complaints in the second half of 2009 with payment protection insurance (PPI) a major source of dispute, according to new figures.The number of new cases reviewed by the Financial Ombudsman Service increased by 18 per cent over the six months between July and December 2009, with Lloyds the biggest source of ire among consumers.The account provider and lender scored 9,952 new complaints in the half-year period, while Barclays saw 9,836 and Royal Bank of Scotland registered 7,349.Complaints were on a range of topics, although 82 per cent of those concerning Lloyds were related to general insurance, a category including PPI.Commenting on the issue, Which? personal finance campaigner Lucy Widenka said: "It is astounding that complaints to banks are still not being handled appropriately."These figures should give any consumers who feel they have been mis-sold PPI the impetus to take their complaint to their bank."If you would like to get your payment protection insurance back - PPI Claim from Lloyds or an other bank then fill out the Quick Claim form or call Belmont Thornton on 0845 526 0000 for PPI claim advice
