Treasury attacks bonus bingeing

Treasury spokesman Vince Cable has attacked the bonus bingeing of the bailout banks.

Speaking at Reform Scotland, a think tank in Edinburgh, the Liberal Democrat criticised the part-nationalised banks' bonus culture and hammered home the need for radical reform in the sector.

Mr Cable also attacked the banks for their failure to lend to the small and medium business market, despite having been supported with billions of pounds worth of public money.

He argued that breaking up the part taxpayer-owned Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) would "help protect us against banks that are too big to fail".

His speech comes after Westminster's Scottish Affairs Committee found the bailout banks to be displaying "unacceptable behaviour" towards customers.

It said RBS and LBG were using "aggressive tactics" to claw back credit card repayments and overdraft charges, as well as forcing unnecessary products onto consumers such as payment protection insurance.

If you would like to make a credit card charges claim to get back all your late payment / over limit fees in the last 6 years from RBS or LBG then fill out the Quick Claim or call Belmont Thornton on 0845 526 0000.ADNFCR-2776-ID-19660375-ADNFCR
