Bank claim: Tax on bankers' bonuses raises £2bn

The supertax on bankers' bonuses has generated more than £2 billion for the UK economy.

In his 2010 Budget speech, the chancellor Alistair Darling revealed that the 50 per cent tax on bankers bonuses of £25,000 or more had garnered almost four times as much as the £550 million predicted.

In a bid to comfort those who have called for greater financial repayment from the state-owned banks, including the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Lloyds Banking Group (LBG), he revealed that £8 billion had been recouped in taxation and bank charges.

Mr Darling said that both banks would be ordered to extend an additional £94 billion in lending to businesses.

His commitment comes after figures from the British Bankers' Association showed that bank lending to UK firms declined by £4.9 billion in February.

In addition, the chancellor reaffirmed his view that an international bank levy should be implemented in order to raise billions of pounds to cut the public deficit.

If you would like to make a credit card charges claim to get back all your late payment / over limit fees in the last 6 years from RBS or LBG then fill out the Quick Claim or call Belmont Thornton on 0845 526 0000.
