A fear of accruing credit card charges may be one of the reasons why Brits seem reluctant to use contactless payment solutions.Figures from a recent survey by Ingenico found that just five per cent of Brits have used a contactless credit card to make a payment.More than six in ten (61 per cent) of those polled stated that they would not undertake a contactless payment unless they were reassured that it was secure. That is because consumers can wave their cards over or touch them onto a reader at the point of sale. No Pin or signature is required for payments under £15.Therefore, some may be worried that if their card gets stolen someone else will be able to use it to make payments, possibly incurring credit card charges.Craig Doyle, managing director for UK and northern Europe at the firm, commented: "This research reveals that consumers are still not sufficiently confident in using contactless technology to make the switch from traditional cash and cards."Around 66 per cent of those polled stated that banks should inform consumers about using contactless payment technology.Jennifer HainesJennifer's speciality knowledge is credit card changes and balance transfers.
