Young people looking to avoid credit card charges should learn how to manage their money. This is because David Rodger, managing director of the Debt Advice Foundation, has said it is important that young people live within their means. Mr Rodger's made these remarks after research by National Savings & Investments showed that young people are taking over their older counterparts in terms of saving. He said: "The important message for young people is one of money management. Buy what you can afford when you can afford it and living to a budget rather than a credit card limit. "It's the best way to avoid the worry and stress that living a life in the red can lead to." His comments follow the new Big Money Index by AXA, which revealed that 40 per cent of consumers have made significant spending cutbacks in their day-to-day lives since the end of last year.
