A high proportion of Brits may end up having to pay credit card charges this summer from having to pay hefty mobile phone bills after being abroad. Findings showed that 49 per cent of Brits have come home to a big phone bill after being on holiday, with the average person having to fork out £149. The research also revealed that only 22 per cent checked how much they would be charged for using their mobile before going away, while 42 per cent said they had no idea of how much it would cost. Ernest Doku, technology expert at uSwitch.com, said: "If people don't want to add to their post-holiday blues by coming home to a 'bill shock', they need to take control. "If you really can't do without your mobile while you are away, at the very least you should make sure you understand the charges and try to limit the scope for a huge bill."
