Loan refunds: Third of Brits putting off home maintenance projects

A number of homeowners across Britain may be waiting for loan refunds so they can carry out home maintenance projects.

Research by has revealed that 32 per cent of homeowners surveyed said they were putting off maintenance and decorating jobs in order to save cash.

It also showed that 22 per cent were waiting to fit a new kitchen and 17 per cent a new bathroom.

Phil Paterson-Fox, head of home services at the price comparison website, said: "Homeowners need to think carefully about the maintenance jobs they are putting off. While it may be ok to delay cosmetic redecorating jobs, essential repairs should not be ignored.

"Delaying structural repairs - a leaking roof for example, may lead to more damage and a bigger bill for repairs in the long-run than if it is dealt with promptly." also found that a third of Brits say they need to make cutbacks to make ends meet.
