Credit card charges: More Brits worried about holiday hangovers

More Brits could be facing potential credit card charges as they struggle to scrape together enough holiday money for their annual vacations.

According to Nationwide, holiday money is one of the leading worries people have before going away, along with travel delays and the quality of the resorts at which they intend to stay.

More than a fifth (21 per cent) said they worried about travel money before going abroad, prompting Nationwide to recommend that holidaymakers ensure they are smart about using their credit cards abroad.

Using a card for purchases rather than regularly withdrawing cash will help limit your exposure to higher charges.

Chris Rhodes, Nationwide director of products and marketing, said: "Going on holiday is supposed to be about relaxing and forgetting all our worries.

"Yet this research shows that people still worry about their holiday even when they're on the way to the airport."

According to uSwitch.com, a high proportion of Brits are also being stung by high mobile phone bills following periods abroad.
