A number of Brits may worry that the amount of money they spend on celebrations may lead to them experiencing credit card charges. Research by NS&I (National Savings and Investments), one of the largest savings organisations in the UK, found that on average Brits will attend four milestone celebrations every year and that each will set them back £120. It revealed that 30 per cent of people worry about how much these events will cost, yet 73 per cent do not save in order to pay for these occasions. Tim Mack, NS&I's Savings spokesman, said: "With so many things to catch up on, funding the fun is often far from people's minds. Yet, with the amounts involved, it's important to think about where the money will come from and even set a little aside to account for it in advance." The research also showed that 20 per cent of people cannot afford to attend every event they are invited to and that 12 per cent resent spending money on attending.
