Credit card charges: Exercise can help people cope with debt stress
Exercise could help people who are currently experiencing credit card charges.
Dan Roberts, a full member of the Association for Coaching and Stress Management Society and a writer specialising in health, wellbeing, relationships, psychology and parenting, claims that people with financial difficulties could alleviate their stress by doing cardiovascular exercise.
He said: "You're looking at at least three times a week, [for] up to 20 or 30 minutes a time. That burns off the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline, so that will immediately reduce the stress levels.
"It also gives you a shot of endorphins, the body's natural opiates, which make you feel calm and relaxed."
Mr Roberts added that it is very important not to ignore debt problems, as this will just lead to you owing more.
In terms of exercise for people with big financial problems, brisk walking is good because it does not cost anything, which is useful for people who cannot afford a gym membership.
