Loan refunds: Brits overindulge on holiday meals

Brits who have received loan refunds may have used the money to overindulge abroad, as many holidaymakers say they eat more on holiday than they do at home.

According to research by insurance provider Churchill, Brits spend £43 per person on food every day when on holiday.

If they are on an all inclusive trip, they "get their money's worth" by drinking as much alcohol as they can.

Annette Fox, spokeswoman for Churchill, said: "It seems that British travellers are making the most of the cuisine on offer in other countries while they are abroad. However, remember to check that the food is safe to eat if you're eating away from your hotel, and be safe and know your limits when drinking alcohol."

Findings show that Brits spend an average of four hours of every day at meals, with 30 per cent saying they eat more sugary and high-fat foods when on holiday.
