Consumers should discuss financial matters such as credit card charges in order to reduce stress. That is according to Terri Bodell, a clinical psychotherapist who offers consultancy and coaching to businesses and individuals. Ms Bodell, also known as the Stress Doctor, was commenting after research by Money Advice Service found that only a fifth of people in the UK have a 'money mate' who they can talk about their finances with. She said: "I don't necessarily think that it's a good thing to have a 'money mate'. I think it's a good idea to have a support buddy irrespective of whether it's to do with money or anything else." The most important thing, Ms Bodell noted, is that the person who you talk to about problems is someone who you can trust. Money Advice Service found that 76 per cent of people equate feeling good about their financial situation with feeling good about life more generally.
