Consumers may soon find they face credit card charges as two more energy suppliers' price hikes have come into effect. E.ON has increased its gas prices by 18 per cent, while electricity has gone up by 11per cent, uSwitch announced Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) has increased its gas and electricity prices by 19 per cent and 12 per cent respectively. Ann Robinson, director of consumer policy at price comparison website, said: "Families are coming under financial pressure from every direction and these price hikes as we head into winter are going to push some even closer to the edge. "The impact of this recent round of price rises on households could be immense with more rationing their energy use in an attempt to keep a lid on the cost." The only supplier from the 'big six' that has not yet announced a second price hike in less than a year is EDF Energy.
