Shoppers who elect to pay for goods and services with credit and debit cards are being charged extra fees in some stores.Candidmoney.com has advised customers to be aware of this practice. The consumer advice site said some "greedy businesses" issue card surcharges but customers do not have to pay them.People looking to save money should shop elsewhere as not every business utilises these card fees, it stated.If changing shops is not feasible consumers could ask to change their payment card as different cards have different charges, added a spokesperson for the site. Electron and some pre-paid cards might not have any surcharges associated with them.The comments were issued after the British Bankers Association conducted a study which found consumers are increasingly interested in possible methods to save money.Repayments on unsecured lending surpassed the amount allocated to new borrowing by £100 million in August, according to the research.Jennifer HainesJennifer's speciality knowledge is credit card changes and balance transfers.
