PPI refunds could help families as child poverty is expected to rise in the UK.Alison Garnham, the chief executive of Child Poverty Action Group, criticised the government for not doing enough to tackle poverty issues in the UK and believes ministers are in denial of the fact that their policies could lead to the worst "poverty records in a generation".Politicians "risk damaging childhoods" children's futures and the country's economics, she stated. The chief executive told the government that it "cannot fight poverty or improve life chances by making the poor poorer" and urged those in charge to return to investing in child benefits and tax credits, as well as help parents return to work by providing childcare aid and creating new jobs.Ms Garnham's comments came after a report by the Institute for Fiscal Studies revealed the government's policies could result in 3.1 million children living in absolute poverty by 2020 - which equates to an increase of 800,000 more children.Amir HussainAmir specialises in personal loans, consumer debt and debt management.
