PPI Refunds: Housing costs causing concern

Payment Protection refunds could help people reclaim their "right" to stay warm this winter.

New research from swiftcover.com has found that energy costs are people's main concern.

Rising fuel prices meant that 39 per cent of people named their energy bills as their biggest worry, while 23 per cent said they are anxious about mortgage payments.

"This is a problem that is as universal as it is troubling. Staying warm during winter should be a right, but with rising prices, it is increasingly becoming a privilege," said Amanda Edwards, senior marketing manager at swiftcover.com.

Christmas should be a time for celebration but these bills will cause people to be anxious over the festive season, she added.

The Money Advice Trust's chief executive Joanna Elson said the latest inflation figures meant "gloomy" prospects for households in the UK.
