Shoppers who are struggling to find the cash to enjoy Christmas this year could check to see if they are eligible to make a credit card claim or receive a payment protection insurance (PPI) refund as the financial windfall may allow them to avoid cutting back their festive budget.A new study from uSwitch.com found that due to the current tough economic climate many are facing since the onset of the banking crisis, consumers will forgo some Christmas cheer this year.According to the research, 32 per cent will spend less on gifts for friends and family than 12 months ago, while 59 per cent will be making their savings on Christmas cards.The traditional dinner is also under threat, as 17 per cent will opt for cheaper meat and 12 per cent will not have a Christmas pudding.A recent report form Legal & General found that 1.5 million households will struggle to manage their money over the festive period.Amir HussainAmir specialises in personal loans, consumer debt and debt management.
