Payment protection insurance (PPI) claims or credit card refunds could help provide many British consumers with the extra cash they need to help them maintain their current standard of living. Despite a small fall in the consumer prices index recently, inflation is still causing financial problems for households in the UK, new research from MGM Advantage has found. The group estimates that in order to enjoy the same living standards as 12 months ago, families would need to find an extra £1,679 a year. PPI claims could be particularly useful for pensioners or those on a fixed income who cannot bolster their finances by other means. "We are seeing more interest in alternative retirement income solutions that can provide some protection against inflation and the rising cost of living," said Aston Goodley, the sales and marketing director at the company. A recent report from the Alliance Trust found that people over the age of 75 would be most affected by inflation.
