PPI claims news: 2 in 3 have suffered a pay freeze

More people could be looking to see if they are eligible to make a payment protection insurance (PPI) claim in order to boost their coffers, after a study by uSwitch.com showed that two-thirds of Britons have suffered a pay freeze in recent years.

The study indicated that a mere 30 per cent of workers are expecting a pay rise this year, although the average increase will stand at just 2.1 per cent - half the current rate of inflation.

More than half of the survey respondents who have seen their wages stagnate said they would have to severely reign in their spending in order to cope.

This news could hardly come at a worse time for many UK workers, as fuel prices remain high, rail fares have increased and energy bills have also spiralled upwards recently.

Bosses at the Debt Advice Foundation recently revealed that the number of calls it receives from cash-strapped people will double in January, as many will have overspent over the Christmas period.
