Lancashire Police give advice to prevent fraudulent bank charges

Lancashire Constabulary has provided advice to members of the public to prevent them becoming the victim of fraudulent credit card charges.

Police Constable Lesley Brown recommended that people ought to be "vigilant" when entering their PIN if they are making a transaction and should "ensure they conceal the numbers".

His recommendations follow fraudulent bank charges sustained by elderly people in Chorley and Ormskirk, which are believed to be the result of criminal activity undertaken by a woman and two men.

A 62-year-old man's bank and credit cards were used to withdraw £300 and pay for goods worth £1,000, while an 83-year-old woman had £2,500 illegally taken from her account after she was pick-pocketed.

The police force has released CCTV images of individuals they wish to identify in connection with these offences, which occurred in Ormskirk and Chorley.

NatWest Bank claims anyone whose card is lost or stolen ought to contact their bank immediately so the lender can arrange a replacement and inform the customer of any further action they ought to take.
