Customers warned to avoid Payment Protection Insurance

People buying cars have been warned that they should not buy protection insurance (PPI) by Thisismoney.co.uk.

Simon Lambert and Andrew Oxlade, in their guide to the dos and don'ts of taking out a loan for purchasing a vehicle, say that people should be wary of PPI when taking out loans because of its history of being mis-sold.

There have been many high profile cases of people who have forked out on a monthly basis for PPI before discovering that they were not covered in the first place.

Consumers taking out a loan should check carefully to ensure they are not being mis-sold a PPI policy.

Last month, the Independent reported the story of an elderly man who was mis-sold PPI, and despite not being covered by the policy faced difficulty in reclaiming the interest on his PPI.
