PPI claim: Metro Bank 'fails to revolutionise' banking system

Metro Bank fails to offer consumers the "full-scale banking revolution" they have been craving, it has been claimed.

The firm is the first new high street bank to open in the UK for over 100 years following its launch today (July 29th).

It promises to offer a new approach to banking by operating outside of traditional hours and offering customers the chance to open a new account in 15 minutes.

Dilshad Issa, personal finance expert at uswitch.com, claimed Metro Bank does not offer competitive rates to match its customer service.

"Metro Bank's Instant and Young savings accounts are not nearly competitive enough to attract savers purely interested in getting the best deal.

"Overall, Metro Bank offers a hesitant change to the market, not the all out revolution many were hoping for."

The first branch was opened in Holborn, with a second store opening in Earl's Court next week.
