Payment Protection Insurance Refund

Whilst each lender may have varied payment protection insurance refund polices when it comes to reviewing claims for PPI refunds, the FSA in the UK has also established a set of guidelines which must be adhered to. There may be some amount of leeway in terms of how banks and other lenders handle claims that are submitted, but even then there are certain procedures for claiming back bank charges they must follow. Perhaps the most basic is that a lender must review each and every claim alleging mis sold and each claim must be weighed on its own merits. They must also complete their investigation in a timely manner, usually within eight weeks.

Filing a Complaint

When you are trying to claim back PPI the first thing to do is to submitted your complaint. There are two ways you can submit your complaint. Firstly, you can submit your complaint on your own and, secondly, you can file through a PPI claims company. Whichever way you choose to submit your complaint you will need to include details of your policy and the reasons you believe it was mis-seold. Your lender will then review your complaint and make a decision as to whether they will award you a payment protection insurance refund. Where your complaint is refused, you would normally have the option to appeal once internally before deciding whether or not to escalate your complaint to the Financial Ombusman Service.

For many consumers, filing for payment protection insurance refunds through a PPI claims company is just so much easier. A claims handling team like that at The PPI Claim Company can handle it all, including any communications with the lender or the FOS during the process. If you are looking for a company to act on your behalf with no upfront charges, this would be the perfect option as they operate on a no win - no fee* policy.
