Payment Protection Scheme

The recent payment protection scheme that has come to the attention of literally everyone in the UK within recent years is one example of how a scandal can wind its way into every aspect of an industry. No branch of the lending industry was immune to the scandal and people are filing payment protection claims against banks, credit card companies, mortgage lenders and even merchants that issue store cards. It seems that somehow the payment protection scheme quickly caught on but it took years for the damages it wrought to be made known.

Five years ago the OFT and FSA investigated payment protection sales and found significant issues. It was discovered that some customers has been persuaded to purchase payment protection schemes they did not want or need or that they could not use. As a result of the investigations, many unhappy customers began to register complaints and there have been year-on-year increases every year.

How To Make A Claim

In order to make a claim for mis-selling, you should contact the lender who sold you the policy. You will need the details of your loan or credit card and the reference or agreement number. It is also useful to have your original payment protection scheme paper work to hand.
