Personal Loan Protection Refund

If you have been mis-sold PPI cover you can file a claim against the lender for a personal loan protection refund.

Understanding Personal Loan Protection

Payment protection insurance claims are becoming more numerous day by day as consumers become aware of the fact that they have been mis-sold payment protection insurance. Even a few years ago most people were unaware of the fact that lenders were misselling an insurance product that was priced way too high and provided very little cover. The Consumer Advice Bureau launched a major campaign in 2005 to try to put a stop to this unethical practice. As a result of their efforts, legislation was enacted whereby consumers were entitled to a personal loan protection refund if it could be proven that the cover was mis-sold. There are a number of ways in which personal loan protection insurance has been mis-sold to consumers so it simply takes knowing what those reasons are and it should be easier to prove.

Getting a Personal Loan Protection Refund

The process for getting a personal loan protection refund begins by filing a claim against the lender. You will need to be able to substantiate exactly why you feel your PPI policy was mis-sold in the first place and after that you will also request a personal loan protection refund on any insurance premium you have paid. There is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't qualify for a refund if you're payment protection insurance was truly mis-sold. Payment protection refunds have been legislated by law and any consumer who was mis-sold PPI is entitled to claim one. Now whether or not the lender agrees with you is another matter altogether and may require filing an appeal with the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Even though personal loan protection sounded like a good thing too many people it just never provided the cover was supposed to provide. On top of that, lenders began misleading consumers promising that it would do what it was never designed to do and charging people extremely high premiums as well.
