PPI Abbey National

Since Abbey National branches have now been replaced by branches of Santander many former Abbey National customers are unsure how to go about making a complaint regarding mis-sold payment protection cover. The good news is that even though Abbey National branches may no longer be a feature of the high street, former Abbey customers still have the right to make PPI claims regarding old policies.

When Santander bought Abbey they also took on responsibility for its existing accounts and sales. This mean Santander has a duty to investigate any mis-sold PPI Abbey National claims and pay compensation where appropriate

If you are not sure whether your payment protection cover was mis-sold, our list below may help. If you answer ‘yes’ to any of the questions below it is possible your cover was mis-sold and you may be entitled to a refund.

  • Were you told you had to have payment protection insurance?
  • Was the policy added without your consent or knowledge?
  • Did you feel pressured into taking out the cover?
  • Were you sold the cover without the full terms and conditions being made clear?
  • Were you sold the cover without the costs being explained?
  • Were you led to believe taking out the cover would guarantee or improve your chances of being given the loan?
  • Were you unemployed, retired or in full time education at the time of sale?
  • Were you suffering from a pre-existing medical condition?
  • Were you entitled to full sick pay from your employer?
  • Did you already have a payment protection policy in place elsewhere?
