PPI Advice

Everywhere you turn someone else has something to say about the payment protection insurance racket that has been so prevalent on the news of late and the sad part is, everyone is saying something quite different. Whilst there are some aspects of PPI that everyone can agree on, other parts are in the grey area and no one seems to know for sure what to tell you. For instance, some are saying that there is no statute of limitations on PPI and that you can make a claim back as far as the year 1999 and even 1998 when PPI first blasted on the market. However, if you read the latest news from the Financial Services Authority you will find that FSA didn't start regulating PPI until 2005 and that's where current legislation begins - with their overseeing of the sales and administration of PPI. So who should you believe and who can you turn to for PPI advice?

PPI Claims Companies and PPI Solicitors

Of course PPI solicitors can give you PPI advice because they are experts in the law. The unfortunate thing about seeking PPI advice from a solicitor is the cost involved. It may hardly be worth the expense of hiring a solicitor if you only stand to get back perhaps £1,500 to £2,000. The lawyer's fee alone could double that especially if you are forced to make an appeal. Some PPI claims companies also charge hefty fees upfront to review claims. Whilst there are some companies like Belmont Thornton / Belmont Thornton that charge on a no win no fee* basis, other less reputable organisations charge an up-front fee plus a percentage of what they win on a PPI claim back. The point is, unless you find a PPI claims company that operates on a no win, no fee contingency you will may be paying dearly for PPI advice.

As mentioned, you can get advice by talking to a claims handler who works for a no win no fee company. Just make sure that they have proper credentials before telling your life story! Being able to get PPI advice is important after having being mis sold PPI. Make sure that the company you consult is registered with the Ministry of Justicet. And, when it's PPI advice you are looking for you will also want to know that any information you pass on is secure as well. A reputable claims company should also be registered with the Information Commissioner's Office.

Being registered with both the Ministry of Justice and the Information Commissioner's Office, Belmont Thornton / Belmont Thornton keeps abreast of the latest news and is cognizant of the need for confidentiality. To speak with a claims handler today call 0207 471 2000.
