PPI Cash Back

Are you entitled?

If you have been mis-sold a payment protection insurance policy within the last ten years then it is likely you may be able to make a claim and may be entitled to receive PPI cash back. The scandal surrounding the sale of PPI began in 2006 when The Financial Services Authority and The Office of Fair Trading investigated the way in which the policies were sold. The investigations revealed some major issues with the way the cover was sold and, as a result, some lenders were handed large fines. Following the investigations, thousands of unhappy customers began to make complaints and seek PPI cash back. Since 2005 in excess of 1.5 million complaints have been received and this figure continues to grow.

How was the cover mis-sold?

There are many different ways in which PPI can be mis-sold. Common examples include policies being added without the customer's knowledge or consent. Your cover may also be considered to have been mis-sold if you were given incorrect or insufficient information regarding the policy or were not made fully aware of the costs involved. You may also have been mis-sold a policy you did not really need - if you had cover in place elsewehere or were in secure employment with sick benefits or savings. In some of the worst cases, customers were sold cover they were ineligible to use. A customer may be ineligible if they are, for example, self-employed or over the age of sixty-five. In all these instances you may be entitled to PPI cash back.

Making a claim

If you believe you may be entitled to make a PPI claim your first step is to submit your complaint to your lender. Your complaint should outline, in details, the reason you believe your policy was mis-sold. It is also worth looking back over past statements or examining your original agreement to get an idea of how much you may have paid out on PPI. The amount you have paid into a policy will determine any potential refund you may receive. Where mis-selling is proven your PPI cash back may also include interest at 8%
