After two high profile investigations by The Financial Services Authority and The Office of Fair Trading, the public’s awareness of the issue of mis-selling of payment protection insurance has risen dramatically. In the past five years thousands of unhappy customers have made payment protection claims and received refunds, but it is likely that many thousands more may still be eligible.

In total The Royal Bank of Scotland is thought to have sold between 1.6 and 2.4 million payment protection policies. It is impossible to estimate how many of these may have been mis-sold, but the number could be significant.

If you are interested in making a mis-sold PPI RBS claim you need to consider the circumstances surrounding your policy sale. If you were given incorrect information or sold a policy you did not want or need it is quite possible you may be eligible to make a claim. Some specific examples of these kinds of mis-selling are below.

You were given incorrect information
This could cover everything from being told taking the cover would improve your chances of being approved the loan to being told the policy covered circumstances it actually did not.

You were sold a policy you did not want
In some cases policies were added without the customers knowledge or consent. This meant that the customer was not given the opportunity to decide whether the cover was suitable for them and whether they wanted it.

You were sold a policy you did not need
In some cases policies were ‘recommended’ to customers who did not actually need them. This may have been because the policyholder had cover in place elsewhere or was entitled to full sick pay and benefits from their employer.

If you think you may have been mis-sold a policy you can start reclaiming PPI today. To find out more call 0207 471 2000. Our customer services team will be happy to answer any questions you have regarding mis-sold PPI RBS.
