PPI Scandal

There can't be a person in the UK who hasn't heard about the PPI scandal by now, but in case you have been out of the country or just too consumed with the business of going about everyday life, thie scandal concerns the mis-sale of payment protection insurance to possibly thousands of UK consumers. In effect, UK banks, mortgage companies, credit card companies, car hire companies and a plethora of private lenders sold payment protection insurance to UK borrowers who perhaps didn't need them or want them or who were ineligible to use them. The PPI scandal involves this mis sale and the problem is so all encompassing that thousand of consumers are now reclaiming PPI.

The good news here is that borrowers are getting the upper hand finally as they now have the right to claim back bank charges that were the result of mis sold PPI.

In order to go about reclaiming bank charges for mis sold PPI, a consumer must first substantiate how that cover was mis sold. There are very specific rules governing the sale of PPI and if the lender strays from those rules the borrower is entitled to claim back any money taken from him/her. After it has been proven that PPI was mis sold, the claim against the lender can be filed and if approved, the lender is required to give that consumer a refund.
