Protection Insurance Mis Selling

As if the lending industry wasn't already out of favour with consumers in the UK, the scandal that they have been involved in has just served to bring them even further down in the eyes of the public. Protection insurance mis selling has become a huge scandal in the depths of it are just being realised. There isn't an aspect of the lending industry that hasn't been affected by protection insurance misselling in one way or another. With more than 20 million policies out there it may be some time before the true scale of the mis selling is recognised.

How Did the PPI Scam Get so out of Control?

It is unclear how payment protection mis selling grew to such a scale without being recognised especially given the fact the mis-selling occured across a variety of products (from loans to sofas)and sales were conducted by a variety of different lenders (from banks to high street stores). Whatever the reason the issue of mis-selling certainly affected thousands of people with record numbers of people now making payment protection claims every year.

What Can Be Done about Protection Insurance Misselling?

The good news for anyone who has been mis-sold payment protection is that, following investigations by The Financial Services Authority and The Office of Fair Trading, anyone who has a policy now has the right to register a complaint.
