Welcome PPI reclaim

In March 2011 Welcome Finance was declared to be in default. This means the lender has insufficient funds to settle claims made against it. If you have a Welcome payment protection policy, that you believe was mis-sold, you may be unsure what action to take and how to go about making a Welcome PPI reclaim. The good news is that because Welcome is authorised by The Financial Services Authority all payment protection claims against them will now be investigated by The Financial Services Compensation Scheme with compensation being paid out as necessary.

If you are unsure whether your policy was mis-sold you should start by considering the information you were given at the point of sale. If you were told something that was incorrect or you were not given complete information you could be entitled to make a claim. Below is a specific list of examples that may be considered mis-selling.

  • If you were told you had to have the cover
  • If you were told taking out the cover would improve your chances of being given the loan.
  • If you were pressured into taking out the cover.
  • If the cover was added without your consent.
  • If you had a pre-existing medical condition that would make you ineligible for cover.
  • If you were unemployed, retired or in full time education.
  • If you were aged sixty-five or over.
  • If you were entitled to full sick pay from your employer, were a serving member of the armed forces or worked within the civil service.
  • If you were sold a single-premium policy that would not cover the whole length of your loan.
  • If the full costs or terms and conditions of the policy were not fully explained.
