Barclays PPI Reclaim

If you have a loan insurance policy, PPI on your credit card or your mortgage then there is a high chance your policy may have been mis-sold. A mis-sold policy could mean you are paying a high price for very limited cover or even that you are paying for insurance that you are ineligible to use. If you are interested in making a Barclays PPI reclaim keep reading to find out whether you could be entitled to thousands of pounds in compensation.

Were you told the wrong thing or given misleading or incomplete information?

Were you told you had to have the cover? Because of the pressure on sales staff to sell policies and the high rates of commission involved, many salespeople mislead customers into believing PPI was compulsory. PPI was always an optional extra.

Were you told taking out the cover would improve your chances of being given a loan? As above, to boost sales sometimes customers were given misleading information. Purchasing PPI would not improve your chance of being given the loan. The decision would be based solely on your credit rating and personal circumstances.

Were you sold the policy without the full terms and conditions being explained? In order to make a decision as to whether PPI cover was right for you, you should have been given the full terms and conditions of the policy. If this did not happen you could start your Barclays PPI reclaim today.

Were you sold the policy without the full costs being made clear? Many people were sold PPI without being made fully aware of all the costs involved. If you were sold a policy without the costs being explained you may be entitled to make a claim.

Were you sold a single-premium policy without being told it may not cover the whole length of your loan? Single premium PPI policies have recently been banned. The policies usually last for a set period of five years. In some cases the policies were sold to customers with longer term loans, but they were not made aware that they would not be covered for the full length of the loan. If you believe this happened to you could be entitled to a Barclays PPI reclaim.

Were you sold the cover despite your circumstances making you unsuitable?

Were you unemployed, self-employed or retired? PPI is designed to cover for loss of employment. If you did not have a job when you were sold the cover it was clearly of limited use to you.

Were you over the age of 65? Most PPI policies do not cover people over the age of 65. If you were over this age when you were sold your policy you could start you Barclays PPI reclaim today. Did you have cover in place elsewhere? As part of your suitability assessment you should have been asked whether you had cover in place elsewhere. If you did, but were not asked, you could make a claim.

Did you have a pre-existing medical condition? Most policies do not cover pre-existing conditions. Your lender should have asked you about your medical history and explained any existing conditions would not be covered. If this did not happen your policy may have been mis-sold.
