Been Misold PPI

Those of us who have been misold PPI know that it is no fun trying to reclaim money that was taken from us either without our knowledge or against our better judgement. Lenders have been misselling payment protection insurance for more than a decade now and as a result there are tens of thousands of payment protection insurance claims being submitted each and every year. In fact, it is estimated that the number of UK residents who have been misold PPI and are claiming refunds in 2011 will top 70,000! That is a lot of payment protection refunds to process.

Have I Been Misold PPI?

You may be questioning whether or not you have been misold PPI because it is not a cover you chose or even wanted but have been paying on. If the lender told you that your loan was contingent upon purchasing PPI then, yes you have been misold PPI. As well, if the lender simply added payment protection insurance to your loan, you should be able to file a claim for a refund. In fact, other reasons to claim payment protection refunds would include if the lender sold you cover knowing that you were self employed, temporarily employed, employed part time or even unemployed as these are excluded from eligibility. If you told the lender you had pre-existing medical conditions and were sold PPI anyway, you have grounds to file a claim. Did the lender talk to you about all the restrictions, conditions and exclusions in the small print? Did the lender tell you how much PPI would cost? Any of these could be used as grounds for mis sold payment protection insurance and would make you eligible to file for a refund.

How to File a Claim for Misold PPI

If you feel you have been misold PPI then you would need to put that in writing. Next it is necessary to calculate how much you have paid into mis sold PPI as your refund is dependent upon this figure. Never leave it up to the lender to tell you what they are willing to refund you as this will almost invariably be far less than you have paid in premiums and interest. Compensation is important so many people find that hiring the services of a no win no fee* claims management team like Belmont Thornton, Belmont Thornton is in their best interest. Not only will specific claim forms need to be submitted but you will want what is due to you as well as a way to keep lenders on target when reviewing your claim.
