PPI Reclaim: FSA chief demands bank reform

Hector Sants, who heads up the Financial Services Authority (FSA), has blasted banks for their lack of responsibility and says his organisation will become more proactive in policing banks in the future.

Speaking at Bloomberg in London, Sants warned banks to take heed of the lessons of the global financial crisis and do more to ensure stability in the economy

He said: "There remains, I believe, an absence of the acceptance of collective responsibility for what has happened.

"I personally remain unconvinced that all senior management have taken on board the need to change and operate in a genuinely different manner."

His comments come as further evidence of the problems caused by banks is uncovered, with the mis-selling of PPI having led to millions losing out and having to get PPI refunds.
