Payment Protection: Banks increase price of PPI
Many people could see their insurance bills soar because of a 'recession crime wave', the Daily Telegraph reports.
The price of insurance has increased across the board, including home and contents, car and payment protection insurance.
According to research undertaken for the newspaper, some may see their bills rise by as much as £150 per year.
With unemployment rising, more people are relying on insurance to pay for their mortgage and credit card bills.
However, those who have been mis-sold payment protection insurance by providers might be in danger of missing out on this support, while others have been overcharged by banks.
People who think they fall into these categories should consider launching a claim for PPI refunds or a bank reclaim.
Last week, lenders asked the Financial Services Authority not to re-open thousands of claims of unfair bank charges.
