The board of directors of the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) have said they may resign in response to government attempts to curb the size and terms of the bonuses they can pay.Having paid out £1 billion last year, the firm, which is majority-owned by the UK taxpayer, is planning to make more than £1.5 billion in bonus payouts this year.Chancellor Alistair Darling has seized control of this year's bonus pot at the company, which also owns Natwest, Coutts and Ulster Bank.
