A bank manager has been accused of stealing over £900,000 which was meant for cash machines by stealing batches of money, a court has heard.
Ania Wadsworth, an employee of Lloyds TSB, is accused of manipulating accounts to hide the large amounts of money she was stealing.
Miss Wadsworth, who worked at a branch in Golders Green, North London, says she stole the money under pressure from her boyfriend Keith Preddie,
Mark Paltenghi, prosecuting, said that the case did not involve a complicated paper trail and electronic transfers but the instead the "taking of physical cash and removing it from the premises", the Daily Telegraph reported.
Lloyds TSB is part of Lloyds Banking Group, which also owns the Bank of Scotland. The firm was bailed out by the UK government following the global financial crisis of 2008.
Recently, the financial services group embarked on a major refinancing programme to avoid the need to take part in the government's asset protection scheme.
The trial continues.
