Loan Insurance: Poor finances are the burden of the nation
Almost of half of all UK adults say financial pressures are damaging their health and relationships, new research suggests.
Some 45 per cent of people reported the physical and emotional effects that the credit crisis was having on them, with one-third of people suffering from finance related stress, according to a study by moneybasics.co.uk.
In addition the report also revealed that women are more anxious than men, with 55 per cent reporting financial worries.
Those in the younger age range seem to be hardest hit with financial burdens. Around 66 per cent of 25 to 34 year-olds admitted having concerns about paying bills and meeting loan repayments.
Just last month a report published by Circle Anglia and authored by the Financial Inclusion Centre thinktank, found that an increasing number of people are turning to illegal lenders for financial help, borrowing millions in unregulated loans.
However, the moneyfacts report suggests there is a genuine desire to get "financially fit".
Up to 17.4 million people with unsecured debts including loans, credit cards and overdrafts said they plan to cut borrowing in 2010, with the average person looking to reduce the amount by £2,572.
