Bank Claims: HSBC customer accounts changed without permission

HSBC are switching customer's bank accounts without seeking their permission, it has been revealed.

Financial website has revealed that the bank is automatically moving customer's from one bank account to another depending on their monthly deposits.

All consumers who pay in a minimum of £500 into their Current Account each month are then switched onto the firm's Bank Account package.
Bank Account holders receive a preferential savings rate of four per cent on all contributions between £25 and £250, as well as free credit reports.

However, customers who fail to deposit £500 a month lose these benefits and are forced to revert back to the current account.

A spokesperson told the website: "The people who qualify for the Bank Account make up the bulk of our customer base so it'd be quite a piece of work to ask them all individually."
